Do espionage types really try to sense what a
processor is doing
remotely, based on the EM emissions from the chip?
See some of Ross Anderson's
papers on http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~rja14/ for
attacks that have been used on "Smart Cards". That could be considered an
example - even if it is more commonly for criminal rather than state
espionage.
