Fanatics can get cameras with many tens of
megapixels, and if you want
a 30 by 50 inch photo you might want to rent one of those. But for
8x10 that's excessive.
My girlfriend used to work in a Fuji photo lab, one of the little
supermarket ones. They could print on 8" roll paper (they did various
widths, and the printer would just guillotine it at the required length).
Her Fuji Finepix S602 Zoom, around 6 megapixels, could produce much higher
resolution images than the printer could deal with.
