I have yet to see a keyboard that had crappy square
flat unsculptured
keycaps, but good key mechanisms, so I think it's safe to assume that
GE Termiprinter? It's a been a long time since I've used mine, btu I
seem to rememher that had flat keytops on a very nice mechanism (both for
design/reliability and feel).
There was a keyboard swtich sodler over here that had a flat keytop made
in 2 parts. The top part was transparent plastic, the bottom part white
plastic. The idea was you could either label the lower part with rub-down
letters ('Lettraset') or put a paper label between the parts.
Maplin sold a kit for a replacement keyboard for the ZX81 (and I think
later a similar one for the Spectrum) using said switches.
I have no idea how good the feel was (and yes, flat keytops), but I'll
bet it was a lot nicer than the original Sinclair keyboard :-)
all chicklet keyboards completely suck.
