I've had a beercan-sized cap (a proper UK 500ml
beercan, not yer fiddly little
USian 300ml ones) in a radio transmitter dating from the 1960s blow in
spectacular fashion. To be fair, I suspect that a failing rectifier had
already administered the death blow to it.
I have had spectacular explosions as well, with little bits of crap
ending up in my hair - but they seem to happen regardless of anything
we do.
