Apple lost the computer wars long before PPC ran its course, so they turned
into what Sony was in the 80's and 90's (an electronics company that was
cool). Thing is what kids find cool today is what the generation after that
will find old, so Apple will not be around forever (anybody use a walkman
anymore?).
I don't worry about the passing of Apple Computer much, when none of the PC
makers can make a buck on manufacturing x86 machines you know somebody will
come up with something totally new and a new race will start.
