Do you know if anyone makes these cables and sells them? Or, barring that,
any specific links to the assembly instructions?

I just ordered one. Haven't received it yet but he seems genuine.

Hi Larry,
The X1541 Cable is $12.00 Plus Shipping.
Also how do you get the
Star Commander to your C64 without the cable ? If it is not
possible could you include the program ?
Star Commander can be found online by doing a search for it at
Yahoo.com. Star commander only needs to be loaded into your PC not
your Commodore Computer. Please read the following, I beleive this
will answer most of your questions.
The X1541 Cable is used to transfer files archived on a PC (files
usually obtained online) to a Commodore 1541 floppy drive (or
compatable) or a 1571 floppy drive.
NOTE: Software is required on the PC in order to transfer files to
the Commodore drive. Both Trans 64 and Star Commander are highly
recommended. Each of these programs can be obtained via the World
Wide Web.
One end of the cable plugs into your PC paralel port (your
printer port) and the other end plugs directly into your Commodore
floppy drive.
Make sure your Commodore drive is turned on before you start your
software on the PC (Trans 64 or Star Commander). Also make sure you
have a floppy disk in your Commodore Drive. Then just fire up the
software on the PC (make sure you read the documentation that comes
with the transfer software you wish to use) and start transferring
software to and from your Commodore floppy drive. Hope this helps
you out! If you have any other questions, do not hesitate to ask.
Thanks,
Jon
