Unlikely. 'B' was a BCPL derivative which predated 'C' at Bell Labs.
I recall the conversation quite vividly--and that the gentlement I
spoke with (who was in a position to know) emphasized the point; i.e.
"We don't use 'C', but rather 'B'".
