The BNC connectors do, indeed, carry composite video.
These (at least the model I have) contain a "kill switch" in the little add-on
that's bolted to the back of the machine. In order to get power to the internal power
supply, you must have the switch depressed -- or the "cover lock" bolt in the
locked position.

Err -- anybody know a good way to run some diagnostics on the machine? :)
If it's a //e, hold down the closed (solid) Apple key and press Ctrl-Reset.
(If you see a screen that alternates between solid white and black, you have
an unenhanced //e with 64K of memory. If you see a screen with random large
colored pixels, you have an enhanced //e with 128K of memory.)
If it's a ][ or ][+, find a diagnostic program on disk -- there are no
built-in diagnostics.
If things are mostly working, you could use BASIC to do some simple
diagnostics (test the keyboard, game paddles, graphics, etc.)
