I have one and I remember reading that comment about inhibiting CDF
for fields >2.
The BM8L adds up to 28K for a maximum of 32K. (It
extends the IF and DF to
the full 3 bits, so I'm quite sure it goes beyond 16K.)
I have only seen your pictures of this - it sounds very interesting but I agree
they can't have made many of them.
