OT: SCSI HDD help?

Yes, this is Off Topic, but since you're all knowledgeable, and packrats... Probably should keep this off-list too... I have a Quantum Viking 3.5" SCSI-2 HDD, SCA-80 connector, P/N 4550S VK45J012 REV 03-C K8600. It seems to spin up okay, but ARC setup on my DEC Alpha doesn't see it. The biggest chip on the board, probably the controller, gets to a temperature that seems way hotter than it should be. Well, compared to another Quantum 4.5GB Viking drive. Question is, can just the controller board be replaced?
