Subject: Re: Dismantling an AT keyboard entirely
Tony scribbled:
There is an _official_ 101/102 key XT keyboard from
IBM, BTW. It looks
like the AT one, but it doesn't have the 3 LEDs at the top right.
Otherwise it's identical. The manual implies that these keyboards
autodetect which machine they're plugged into and send either XT or AT
codes. The 83/84 key keyboards don't - they have to be used with the
right machine.
Tony! Missed the PS/1 type keyboards!? They use exactly same
bowing spring technologies. I had stolen springs from 84 key ones to
fix PS/1 and PS/2 keyboards. Those springs get mangled rather easily
and get lost sometimes.
One telltale is you can twist PS/1 lengthwise and light.
