Make sure you have the AUI interface disconnected, and the TPE cable
connected to the Hub when you power on the system. What OS, Solaris or
SunOS? If you're running Solaris, you may need to do a 'boot -r' to
refresh the device list. In case you don't have it, here's the service

The 'test net-tpe' diagnostic will check your built-in port, if
connected to a hub.
