FP is [...] and for the sake of the mind expansion
learning it
produces (in those who do manage to get their heads around it).
It's simple to
teach and use.
This is a joke, right?
Maybe not. Remember Poe's Law.
My own reaction was "this is a joke, a troll, or someone so thoroughly
inside the ivory tower that sliding from `I can do this' to `this is
natural for everyone' not only happens but happens without being
noticed; whichever way, there's no point in responding".
It really is a different way of thinking that's
not easy for some
folks to pick up.
It is. It's a very interesting way of thinking, but, yes, it's not
easy for some people.
Including me. I _implemented_ continuations (I wrote a Lisp engine and
one of the things it does is continuations), and I still subscribe to
the dictum that the continuation that does not bend your brain is not
the true continuation.
But to dogmatically declare it an advance in pretty
much any
task-independent practical metric is to drink some rather
unrealistic ivory-tower koolaid.
I've never actually seen anyone do that, but
it's a popular
strawman.
This is also a joke right?
Since I quoted an example, which Toby (double-)quoted, I decided it
was, again, a joke, a troll, or just plain unwillingness to read;
again, in none of those cases is there any point in responding.
