Batteries in the TI LCD Programmer lasted years. But I haven't opened that
drawer in YEARS.

It certainly IS "TRUE"!
The battery life of THREE that I have had has always been HOURS, NOT
YEARS.
OTOH, the LCD model gives years on batteries.
