1971 B-language version
1973 First C-language version
1976 First licensed release
1977 First AT&T internally supported release
1978 First portable version
1979 First DEC VAX version
1979 Bill Joy introduces "Berkeley Enhancements"
1982 AT&T first markets UNIX
1983 AT&T markets System V as industry standard
