What would Heathkit do?
Serious question : Apart from the obvious one [1], was there any Heathkit
that required SMD assembly? I seem to remember that some later Heathkits
were nto really kits at all, with very little soldering to do :-(
I am not sure if any Velleman kits involve SMD assmbly, certainlty the
ones I've built have been all through-hole. I seem to remember at least
one Maplin kit (back when Maplin made and sold their own range of kits)
that had some SMD parts, though.
[1] Heathkit prodcued an education kit to teach SMD soldering. You ended
up making a flashing light or something uisng SMD components. Needless to
say that one did come with an unpolulated PCB
