any really
weird 70s mini (small honeywell machine
How about a big Honeywell? Found a Level 6 in a scrap pile.
You mean a Honeywell DPS-6? That _IS_ a small Honeywell!!! I spent over
three years working on Honeywell Mainframes, I'm kind of saddened that no
one seems to be collecting them. I qualified on a DPS-6, but my main
experience was a DPS-8. I pretty much did it all on that beast, first an
operator and periphrial equipment operator, then finally a DBA and Systems
Analyst.
The hardware setup was pretty cool, and I blame it for my infatuation with
switches and LED's on computers :^) I'm happy to say that I can't remember
anything anymore on the software side. Not even how big a link or
little-link was. GCOS-8 was a nightmare! Actually I don't think I'd have
minded it as much if they just listed stuff in sizes I could remember :^)
<mutter, mutter, now how many bytes are in a little-link, mutter>
Hmmm, it really amazes me, now that I think about it, I really can't
remember _anything_ about GCOS.
