Been using 99% isopropyl alky here for years. No problems to date.
The only thing I will say is that you shouldn't use standard Q-tips for
swabs. They're loosely wound, and come apart way too easily. Use either
foam swabs, or cotton-tippers that are explicitly designed for cleaning
tape heads (tight-wound, long wooden sticks).
