When it was in financial straits (~1987?), a number of
biggies were interested in buying just to get rights to MS-DOS.
MS sued to block sale, but then changed their minds and
simply outbid the other buyers.
I've always maintained that Novell's purchase of DRI
wasfor the sole purpose of owning the CP/M copyright,
to protect themselves from MS.
