There's a quote I saw, from Seth Breidbart - he of Breidbart Index fame
on Usenet - that goes something like "WordStar on a 4.077 MHz 8086
could keep up with my typing; WinWord on a 300MHz Pentium III can't".
Of course, one of the joys of PC compatibles is that if you want, you
can run that copy of WordStar on your 300MHz PII - or on a 3000MHz
Core i7. And by the hypothetical deities, it flies along if you do.
Me, I run Word 97. On a modern box, it's very quick indeed.
