...which is not what we're talking about here. These are real machines, most
in operating condition. They are displayed with contextual material. The difference is
that I don't have to get on an airplane. Think of it as teleconferencing without an
PowerPoint. Yes, there may be times I *want* to get on an airplane and touch the machine
myself - but how many brick-and-mortar museums let you touch the exhibits anyway?
The point of some of the statements on this thread is that the concept of
"museum" is being transformed (as are many longstanding definitions) by the
technology we are in fact preserving! How delightfully self-referent.... -- Ian
