Taken advantage of to the tune of more than $500,000
seems more than
just sleazy.
Was there any advantage taken, though? I don't know enough of the
circumstances surrounding either sale to know, and I can easily imagine
possibilities on either end of that spectrum.
I'm most of the way through selling a condo for $320k when, the real
estate agent I'm dealing with assures me, I could probably put maybe
$40k into spiffing it up and then instead sell it for more like $400k -
getting shut of it and not having to think about it further is worth
the difference to me. Am I being taken advantage of? Does what the
buyer intends to do with it matter? Does what the buyer actually does
with it matter? Would it matter if I were what's sometimes euphemized
as a "motivated seller" (ie, desperate to sell, for some reason)?
