I've been doing LFS for 2 years now, and now I can't stand *any*
other distro for my own use; altho my technophobe wife uses SuSE and
a Knoppix CD can come in handy for a few things.
It sounds as though you already know of two things for which LFS is
*not* the best.
Build your own. Takes from a few days to a month or
more,
For some applications that is a showstopper. For others it's "merely"
an unnecessary annoyance.
There is no globally best just-about-anything. At least when a
selection exists at all.
