A couple of firsts for me (Commodore)

   The 1802 in
its several incarnations (CM-141, 1703) is an absolute lemon.  
 Any ideas who really made it?  
No clue. The 1702 is a JVC monitor (I think it's a TM-13U -- I saw it here
at my university's observation lab! :-).

   They have a
notoriously high failure rate (mine failed within six months,  
 What tends to fail? 
Not sure. In our case, it was cheaper to buy a new monitor (this was a few
years back when they were still in stores) than take it to the local Commie
service centre.
