We've had cats or dogs pretty much continuosly over the years and
never one at a time. In my experience, the best remedy is to jump
right in again and make a home for a new visitor right away.
Two years ago, we lost three dogs in the space of a single year. If
we had not adopted new members of the pack during that time, enduring
the losses would have been much harder.
