I started actively looking for VME documenation a many years ago. At that
time mostly for Sun-related VME boards.
Like you say, much is already unobtanium. There are some manuals up under various
manufacturers on bitsavers.
Most of the VME boards were subject to more NDA contraints than DEC
gear, so the few paper copies of the manuals have gone to the
landfills rather than to bitsavers :(
