Collecting was more fun, and the machines were easier to find, when
nearly everyone considered them worthless a decade or so ago.
I dunno. It would probably help if I knew what "top collectable" is.
The fact is, I didn't know I was a "collector" at all till I started
reading the classiccmp archives. I just thought I had accumulated a lot
of junk. Seriously.
I _don't_ tend to collect anything at all that I don't/can't use. I
had a very extensive cigarette lighter collection till I quit smoking,
about 8 years ago. The collection quit being fun when I quit lighting
cigarettes. I also had a fair accumulation of special edition knives,
till I figured out that I was actively avoiding the sight of them. A
special edition blade becomes worthless the first time you sharpen it.
So I had all these cool, beautiful tools that I couldn't use. Bah!
So, no. If I can't at least play hangman or Empire on the damn thing,
I don't need or want it. If it has no monetary value, that just means I
get more, quicker.
Nobody but me is really impressed by them anyway....
