Easy answer: lie. Just tell 'em you're going to pick it up. :-)
Down side: no eBay/PayPal protection (such as it is) if the seller is a flake/crook. Of
course, if it's someone you know, that's hopefully not a problem....
eBay seems to be doing its level best to destroy customer satisfaction.
