I read the ANSI C standard when it was new, but part of the
inspiration was due to my boss being the DECUS representative to the
X3J committee and hearing some of the stories of what it took to forge
the standard in the first place (I'd only been programming in C for
2-3 years at the time).
I haven't re-read it in the intervening 25 years, however.
