Chuck is absolutely right, you needs a temperature controlled tip.
The type Chuck and I have show up quite often in surplus shops.
I've even hacked one together in my earlier days being quite
cheap at the time. I found that you could buy handles with
broken connectors cheap ( like $3us each ). Another $14 and
I had a 24V transformer and scounged up a power cord.
