I remember seeing a RAID5 made of thumbdrives a
while ago.
I made one from four 1.44 MB floppy drives a few weeks ago, just to see
how well it worked. Performance wasn't even all that bad (one internal
drive, and three USB, so all four could be read or written to more or
less simultaneously).
