That's...uhh...annoying.
Very. I need a password to enable the TN3270 client on mine.
Looks like I need one too. :(
I wonder
how hard it would be to generate one...or hexedit the ROM. That's
always an option.
Passwords on mine appear to be hexadecimal with a max length of 8. So
it's a 32-bit integer.
Hmmm. Now to find out what the hell the processor is so I can disassemble the ROM.
MC68HC00, M6800 family (NOT M68000)
I looked into cracking it very briefly. I even pulled and read in the
PROMs a while back. I don't think at the time I could make any sense
of it but I didn't try very hard. I believe it has another PROM and I
don't have a PLCC adapter so I gave up on it temporarily. (~2 years
ago)
Meanwhile, seeing that I'm not in a rush, I've been trying to brute
force it. Almost at 0xFFFFFF, at which point I'll have to quit. The
only password I've found is ADD, which gave me 30 days access to the
3270 client, obviously for demonstration purposes. :(
Awww. :(
The Almighty Google says it may contain information involving the serial number anc mac
address.
