There's a hint in this thread from 2006
<http://www.classiccmp.org/pipermail/cctech/2006-April/019783.html> that
for the 9000/345 at least, there's a daughter card / controller that may
switch the function of the Centronics 50 connector from SCSI to "high
speed HP-IB." I know my 9000/380 system board has the C50 connector
labeled "SCSI/HS HP-IB," but haven't investigated further.
This is distinct from the C50 connector in a much older DIO card in my
/380 that's defintely a serial port option. I'm sure connecting a SCSI
device to that would indeed do the bad things that Jerry Wright mentioned...
