This may sound a bit extreme, but if it's your last
shot at saving a
laptop HD, try this method.
1. Find a flat, level surface.
2. Pick up the laptop (or just the drive)about 6 feet above the surface.
3. Drop it.
This is called "E and R, elevate and release", but I wouldn't do it more
than about 6 inches high.
