That's not true... I ran Ultrix 1.1 on our 11/730
scads of years ago
(known on the UUCP maps, c. 1986, as ...!cbosgd!osu-eddie!k-panda)
My employer ordered it at the DECUS it was announced at. When I was
using it, it had 5Mb of RAM and the standard RB80 (121MB) disk. It
was the first machine I ever did a UNIX install on. It spent its
last few years in service (up to 1993) running VMS 5.0. I have it in
storage now. I have the Ultrix tapes at home, AFAIK (I'm sure I have
2.0. I'm not as certain about 1.1)
Come to think of it, I've heard that the VAX versions of Ultrix in the PUPS
archives are for Unibus systems.
Still, as I said before, I recommend VMS.
