As others have already pointed out, both uses are correct
(which was news to me since I was taught only the noun form).
Most dictionaries reflect current "common" usage. That which was once
wrong becomes "correct" if enough people who are wrong persist in being
so. Some dictionaries adopt common convention more quickly than others.
If you want to win a pronunciation debate based on "classic" usage, grab
American Heritage. If you are arguing for "popular" usage, go for
Websters.
