What's wrong with standard see-through tape? I've used it before on audio
cassettes and it worked fine.
Scotch (tm) tape or the like? Maybe ok for a temporary splice
job. The problem with that stuff is the adhesive tends to cold-flow
over time and can stick to the entire reel inside the casette.
