A buck a page for a full sheet of 48X COM output would be a
good deal if you could get it through a service bureau for
300 or 400 equivalent DPI. There are over 100 pages/sheet at 48X.
I think I probably have 10,000 sheets of fiche. If I wanted to scan
all of it then ther per-fiche price doesn't have to be very much
before buying a scanner (even a mostly-manual one like a ScanPro)
looks pretty attractive. Obviously I need to be willing to spend
a large chunk of change (which I'm not) and to spend literally years
in front of a machine to scan everything (not keen on that either).
Luckily I just have to wait a while. I remember when a MicroVAX II
cost ?20K and I have one of those so surely the economics are on
my side :-) (If not, I just need to wait for Dave to perfect his
technique and then replicate ...)
