Would a 3 ft long insulated screw driver and ground
wire going to a
cold water pipe qualify (yes that's how we did it at a repair center)?
I hated those loud bangs!
I've found wiring in a 10 or 100 megaohm resistor in series with the ground
wire helps bleed off the juice a little slower and more controlled. At any
rate, when working inside a CRT, I usually use aligator clips on leads
clipped to everything, and to each other, and then one leading to a known
ground source (water pipe, etc). That way I ensure that any extra power
doesn't try to find a way home through me.
