David H. Barr rote:
remotely on-topic; what would you consider to be your
most "artless
hack?" I mean, what klu(d)ge are you most proud of, and yet at the
same time a bit abashed (-fun- to say) to cop to?
Computer-related: About everything I did to my poor AT&T PC 6300: Sawed a
hole in the front to mount a 3.5" floppy drive; snipped out the old peizo
squawker to connect a 1/8" line-out jack to connect to the stereo; a few other
"modifications".
Non-Computer-related: I fixed a $500+ microscope with chewing gum. Somehow
the lens barrel wouldn't fit into the main housing, so I took a bit of chewing
gum and stuffed it up the housing, then slowly pushed the lens barrel in. It
stuck, and still works 20+ years later (I was 12 at the time).
