This appear to be a 9-pin DIP ceramic carrie
9 pins? Surely you mean 16.
two smaller chips mounted on-top - each of the
smaller
chips has the MK4116E-3 designation.
For a while they would take two "bad" 4116's with good halves and
glue them together in this way. There were also 4108's from around
the same time that were rumored to be 4116's with a bad half...
Mostek's "E" package was a 16 pin leadless chip carrier .35" x
.285".
Connections were on all 4 sides.
Mostek's "D" package was an 18 pin (9x2) DIP "Double Density" with
2 chip
carriers on it.
