Hi
I agree with Fred but one must make all attempts when
people have valued data. I have known programs that bypass
the OS to improve speed in data logging. This usually makes
for interesting problems when soemone tries to read
them without the right tool.
I wouldn't give up until I saw the data on all the sectors,
or at least the first 3 or 4 tracks. It is also possible
that someone erased the files, giving the empty directory.
The data would still be on the disc but it might be fragmented.
