What I saw in at least one tragic situation was a book collection of a
lifetime sold because "let's get great grandpa into the home before
grandma changes her mind or he wakes up". It was the best Western
Americana collection I've ever seen.
The guy out here in LA who got it paid $50000 because he had the cash,
and 3 weeks later did $450,000 at at book fair here in the area on the
first weekend. I bought items as I could for years from him. But so
much was lost.
People will fight with people sometimes for years and in a moment of
weakness move like lighting. This is of course if it isn't an outright
estate sale, or done in real distress, such as lack of resources and a
disability.
