It was the highest my scanner would do.
I wasn't complaining. I think it's good enough for reverse-engineering the
differences between those three formats and the format in the patent. But
it will probably be more trouble than it's worth to try to develop a
decoder that can work from that resolution.
Possibly 400 dpi grayscale with some image processing might help, but going
to 600 or 1200 dpi (true optical resolution, not interpolated) would help a
lot more.
I'm more interested in developing an encoder anyhow.
