No, if a color CRT TV or monitor doesn't have a
degaussing coil, it will
have color problems every time you physically reorient it with regard to
the earth's magnetic field, or any other ambient magnetic field. My
Actually awit ha delta-gun CRT you will anyway. The in-line CRTs (PIL,
etc) are only affected by the vertical component of the earth's magnetic
field , whcih doesn't change much if you turn the set round, move it
round the hose, etc. Delta gun tuves are also affected by the horizontal
component, and have to be set up i nthe locaiton and orientatio nthat
they are to be used.
At one time if you bougth a colour TV, an engineer would come out and
tweak 20 or so adjustments to get it poreprly converged (it was even
worse in the UK, we had dual-standard, 405 and 625 line sets, with even
more tweakers). The coming of in-line CRTs first of all enabled there to
be portable colour TVs and also allowed them to be sold by 'box shifter'
companines with not techncial backup. I am not sure the latter was a Good
Thing.

I've seen this claimed several times. Has there ever neem a verified case
of a CRT mask (any time) being distorted by the sort of magnet you find
in a house? Oh, and provided the CRT is not otherwise defective (I have
heard of problems where the mask has broken free of its mountings, and
tapping the CRt will affect the purity
