Would a dropcloth/sheet placed over equipment protect
it from UV
discoloration due to fluorescent lighting?
You can find UV filters for flourescent lighting at museum supply
stores on the web.
There are a few good, down-to-Earth books available about the science
of conservation, all of which escape my mind right now. There are lots
of good, practical, easy to use tips and ideas in these. Remember that
these museum people aim to keep the condition of their artifacts
frozen in time for hundreds or thousand of years, even if not yet
practical.
