People do things you wouldn't do because other people are not you.
Of course. And there are plenty of things that _I_ don't want to do -- in
fact that I have no interest in at all (whether doing them, watching them,
or somehow making use of the results) that others do want to do.
Fine. And in many cases I can understand why said people want to do whatever
it is.
But I really can't understnad collecting cardboard boxes that may or may not
contain some piece of software, and then never opening them to check.
