Yes, it truly sucks. I know that I've gotten to know a lot of folks in this community
through the bidding histories for various items. I recall being on various email threads
where a lot of us professed reluctance to get into bidding wars with each other that
artificially inflate the prices of vintage items. Needless to say, that's contrary to
eBay's interest in generating the greatest possible fees, and I believe that was the
motivation behind this change. I don't buy the arguments about "increasing
customer safety" - I can't think of a single plausible scenario where I was
"threatened" by the old UI, and many ways that benefited me. In any case, I
find myself shopping eBay less than I once did.... -- Ian
