get a CD-ROM back then. A short while ago, an e-mail
arrived with the
license to use OpenVMS; alas, the license expires in one year. Will
this expiration date have any effect on the useability of the software
after the expiration date?
Um, yeah! In about a year you'll need to get new PAK's and install them,
either that or you'll have to turn your clock back.
This is the one thing I *REALLY* hate about the OpenVMS Hobbyist program.
With the Tru64 program you have to pay Compaq (now maybe HP if it's still
available) about $100, but you get a set of good PAK's and a set of CD's.
I really wish they'd done this with the OpenVMS Hobbyist. It really helps
if you've real OS and networking PAK's installed on your system, that way
you can easily copy the new PAK's over if the old ones have expired. :^(
