2114s are hard to find? Are they some weird variant (speed, power)?
While I think that the last round of static PETs may have had 2114s,
every one I've ever seen used 6550s, a 22 pin .4"-wide DIP...

I don't know without consulting the schematics if the static PET board
depend on there being 4 chip selects, but if it doesn't, it would be
easy to make a small PCB that fits in a 6550 socket, and houses a 2114.
